Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion designer who has created both haute couture and ready-to-wear collections. Gaultier had no professional training yet was talented enough to be employed by designer Pierre Cardin in 1970 despite his lack of formal instruction. In 1976, he launched his debut collection, and in the 1980s, he became known for his irreverent style. Puig held the scent licence when the first fragrance was introduced in 1993.
